A Marine Sergeant’s Son Has a Happy Holiday with Help from a CFC Supported Charity
Three years ago Marine Sergeant Adam Van Hoozer volunteered to help a CFC-O supported organization dedicated to supporting needy families by providing new toys during the holiday season to children who otherwise would not receive any gifts. During that time, Sergeant Van Hoozer was lower-ranking and could not afford Christmas presents for his own son, Kayleb.
When his time supporting this organization came to an end, Sergeant Van Hoozer was overwhelmed to discover that his own child had qualified as a beneficiary. On Christmas morning, Kayleb received toys and books from the same organization his father had worked so diligently to support.
“It’s an amazing feeling to give to your community and have it come full circle back to you” says Sergeant Van Hoozer. “At the end of the day you receive something in return that you were not expecting at all. It’s simply wonderful.”
The books and toys Kayleb received three years ago did more than make one Christmas bright, they have helped greatly with his development and serve as a constant reminder to Sergeant Van Hoozer and his wife that through the generosity of others, help is often available to those who need it.
This year Sergeant Van Hoozer plans to be a volunteer and a donor through the Combined Federal Campaign. He looks forward to providing hope and assistance to other families going through difficult times.
