My cause is people with disabilities. When I was in college, I volunteered with intellectually disabled adults. I was able to form a long-term friendship with my buddy and planned large group events.
It really meant a lot to me to see how being involved in a community made my buddy come alive. Now, as a military member who moves and travels fairly often, volunteering tends to be shorter-term opportunities. I can't volunteer the way I used to, but I can support the same important causes through the CFC. It's important to me that every person feel like a valued member of the community, and the CFC helps me support organizations that do that.
