Each year, the CFC-O partners with Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) schools in the overseas area to conduct two contests: an art contest in the elementary schools and a Public Service Announcement (PSA) video contest for middle and high school students.
Encouraging students’ engagement in the campaign increases family awareness and creates discussion in the community. It has the potential to create lifelong givers from an early age by giving them a positive experience and memory, open the airways for talking about giving amongst families, and boost contributions from families and educators.
First, second, and third place winners are announced in grades kindergarten through fifth grade for the art contest. Overall first through third place are selected in the PSA contest. The contest winners are selected by a panel of judges at the Pentagon. Winning PSAs are aired on the Armed Forces Network (AFN). Winning artwork is used in CFC materials, promotions, social media, awards, and displays to promote the CFC worldwide, including a display in the Pentagon.
