CFC Cause of the Week: Education/Youth Development

Uniformed service member writes "STEM" on illustrated chalkboard “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” – Nelson Mandela

A 5-year-old who is prepared for the classroom is twice as likely to successfully complete middle school than one that is not equipped. Children have an innate passion for learning, but many struggle to reach their full potential because of obstacles like the inability to afford school supplies, lack of safe transportation, or the need for growth through extracurricular activities.

Barriers to education and youth development limit the potential of future generations, which doesn’t just stunt the individual; it affects all of society. One of these children could go on to develop a new medicine, discover a groundbreaking treatment, or find the cure for an illness.

Ensuring children have the resources and skills to succeed in and out of school can be as simple as sharpening a pencil. Many CFC charities focus on increasing access to education and improving a child’s potential for success into the future through youth development programs. You can help children achieve and exceed their goals by supporting these charities through the campaign.

Here’s how you can make an impact:

  • $10 purchases one book for a child, improving literacy skills.
  • $36 equips one child with a year of preschool supplies.
  • $58 covers one year of fees, books, and other school supplies for one child.
