My cause is childhood development. Children are our future and need the opportunity to develop into active members of society that support the common good and provide positive role models for the next generations. As a leader for 30 years in organizations working in childhood development programs, I am continuously amazed to watch these young people grow and develop into active adult community members. Funding childhood development charities allows existing programs to expose underprivileged children to experience and learn methods of working with peers, then eventually being peers in activities that help other individuals and communities. The CFC is important as a method of exposing government workers to the large variety of organizations working on the myriad of issues facing our communities and society. This exposure can bring knowledge of the opportunities available for employees to make individual contributions, monetary or volunteerism, to causes specific to areas of need they are passionate about.
